The Evolution of Packaging: From Banana Boxes to Perfection
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... the used networking market was a wild west where buying a switch or router meant it could arrive in nothing more than bubble wrap or worse, a repurposed banana box that had recently been used to deliver someone’s groceries. (Yes, that actually happened to me once.)
For years, bubble wrap was the go-to choice. It’s cheap, practical, and still widely used today. But while it does the job, not all customers want their high-end networking gear turning up looking like a takeaway delivery.
Why Packaging Matters More Than You Think
Some customers are forwarding the equipment to their own clients and need it to arrive looking professional. Others may be making a case for buying used equipment but don’t want their boss or procurement team thinking they’ve just ordered a second-hand toaster off eBay.
That’s where refurbished makes all the difference. Unlike standard used equipment, it’s been tested, cleaned, repaired (if necessary), and presented properly and presentation is everything.
Take refurbished phones, for example: they don’t arrive in a scruffy, torn-up box they come in sleek packaging, complete with accessories, making them feel like new. That’s exactly what we aim for.

So, early on, we spent time testing different packaging setups, working with our logistics team to tailor the perfect fit for each device. And, sure, over the years, we’ve made small tweaks and improvements, but what’s been the result?
